SUMMARY
Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico's dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state. The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include 15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services.
Why does the job exist?
This position provides high level administrative and communication support to the Fiscal Office of the State Librarian.
How does it get done?
This position provides clerical and office management support for the State Library's Fiscal Office and the Office of the State Librarian; provides support for financial processes, including procurement and budget tracking, as a member of the Fiscal Office team; assists with HR and building/property tracking, filing, and communication; and supports the State Library communications, marketing, and public awareness program.
Who are the customers?
This position serves State Library staff, library patrons, public and tribal libraries, and the general public.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to prioritize tasks and manage hard deadlines; experience with Office 365, Outlook, SHARE Financial, and Price Agreements; strong problem-solving skills; the ability to work alone or as part of a team; and is detail oriented and organized.
Minimum Qualification
Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment with heavy computer use and frequent use of video meetings and telephone use.
