COVID-19 Guidelines

The NMSU system requires all employees to upload proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request an exemption through the Office of Institutional Equity (medical or religious) within three (3) business days of start date. Vaccination card and exemption must be uploaded via the VaxTrax System. NMSU’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is subject to change in order to comply with state and federal mandates and in accordance with the recommendations of public health experts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Web Developer responsibilities: 

  • Act as a web developer for the library’s website. Responsible for design the text layout and establish appropriate content for the pages.
  • Administration of library’s Office 365 SharePoint Sites, Administration of Digital Measures workflows. 
  • Act as a resource for all library staff using Alma providing data retrieval, technical support, system management advisement, interpretation, & training.
  • Develop/maintain webpage content on library’s linux web server, in Cascade, WordPress and SpringShare.
  • Work with faculty/staff to establish appropriate webpage content/layout. Identify needs/create new pages. 
  • Participate in establishing web policies/guidelines; primary contact for enforcement of protocol; provide training.
  • Build and maintain Digital Measures (Watermark Faculty Success) workflows for reporting library faculty, teaching, research and service activities.
  • Create and manage email aliases or distribution lists on the library server or in Office365.
  • Research implementation of accessory modules. Configure/install modules for best use by all depts. 
  • Assist in upgrade planning/implementation. 
  • Install new clients; communicate implications of software changes on policies/procedures. Provide training.
  • Troubleshoot software problems for library staff regarding Alma modules. 
  • Reinstall clients, adjust settings as necessary; contact vendor’s customer support team when needed. 
  • Investigate supplemental software & peripherals.
  • Participate on library & university committees. 
  • Assist with software & hardware problems
  • Monitor Alma Digest routinely (e-mail updates) to keep abreast of software enhancements.
Communications responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting marketing/communications related needs of a designated unit or department. 
  • Writes and/or edits marketing and promotional materials such as newsletters, press releases, letters, brochures, flyers, and other documents. 
  • May plan, coordinate, promote, maintain and evaluate special events, programs and projects sponsored by the NMSU Library.
  • Participates in the overall planning, development and execution of communication strategies at a local, regional and/or national basis for the NMSU Library. 
  • Plans and carries out communications and public relations activities, as appropriate. 
  • May represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees and task forces; promotes existing and new programs. 
  • Participates and/or plans and establishes goals and objectives for Library meetings, conferences, and/or events, with respect to budgets, speakers, facilities, technology, equipment, logistical requirements and other related issues. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of current and emerging multi-media and/or web site development software. 
  • Knowledge of web site architecture. 
  • Knowledge of web standards and protocols including usability and accessibility standards.
  • Skill in web site development and/or design including database development and interface and navigation tool design. 
  • Skill in researching and using new web site development/design software. 
  • Skill in designing or developing usable and accessible web sites and/or original graphics. 
  • Skill in providing consultation regarding web site design/development projects.
  • Ability to work with diverse team members/users. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
