			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Reference Librarian, Part-Time (20 Hrs Per Week) &#8211; $23,000. Benefitted, San Juan College, Farmington, </p>
<p>The Reference Librarian reports directly to the Director of Library Services and is responsible for reference service, circulation and administrative support. The successful candidate will provide enthusiastic and creative reference services including instruction and assistance to library users, reference service, collection development, and general participation on the reference team. Responsibilities include: Remaining informed and up-to-date on relevant trends in instructional and reference services; provide and promote reference services to all library patrons; explore and develop opportunities to integrate library resources and services into campus curriculum; collaborate with librarians and staff to develop instructional materials, orientations, workshops, and classes; assist in developing, teaching, and evaluating information literacy and library instruction sessions and associated material.  Evening and weekend shifts are required. </p>
<p>Masters degree in Library Science and a minimum of three years library experience required. Experience with instruction and reference services (traditional and electronic) is highly desirable. Computer experience should include HTML, Microsoft Office software, and familiarity with Web 2.0 library related resources. Candidate must have solid communications skills and a commitment to customer service. Physical Requirements: Varied walking, standing, sitting and bending with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs of books, library materials and/or related office equipment and supplies. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.</p>

</strong></p>
<p>The  Placitas Community Library Board of Directors seeks a library director  for a part-time, paid position. Placitas is an unincorporated area of  approximately 5,200 residents north of Albuquerque and east of  Bernalillo.</p>
<p>PCL  was established in 2004, and is a 501(c)3, full-service public library  that is staffed by approximately 50 volunteers and funded through  donations, bond issues, and grants.</p>
<p>The  director serves as head of the library, proposes and implements library  projects and policies, and provides leadership for continuous  improvement of service to the community. General responsibilities  include overseeing budget/finance, collection management, personnel,  facility, services, and chairing the Management Team of library service  area coordinators.</p>
<p>The  Board seeks someone who is committed to the mission and philosophy of  public library service and to the Placitas community; has excellent  leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; can work  effectively with the library board, elected officials, and community  groups; has the ability to support, supervise, and motivate volunteer  staff; has computer expertise; and has an MLIS or equivalent experience.  The successful candidate is not required to live in Placitas. Preferred  start date: January 1, 2011. It is expected that the director will  spend 12-15 hours/week in the library with the stipend dependent upon  PCL resources and the successful candidate’s level of experience.</p>

<p>RESPONSIBILITIES:  With the budget management team, plans, develops and manages Voyager fund allocations and fund structure within the base budget ledger for the library materials budget ($2+ million); works closely with collection development coordinator and subject specialists regarding budgetary aspects of collection development; in consultation with the department head develops and implements policies, standards, goals, and procedures to continuously improve workflow; provides leadership and supervision of staff in the Acquisitions Unit; conducts performance reviews and provides input for merit assessments. As a college faculty member of the library, is responsible for achieving in the areas of librarianship and service.</p>
<p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: <strong> </strong>MLS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent; ability to supervise staff; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work in cross-organizational collaboration; strong critical thinking skills; must be able to work with vendors.</p>
<pre>PREFERRED:  1-3 years professional experience in mid-to-large size academic or research library; demonstrated budget or accounting experience; previous management experience; knowledge of integrated library system, preferably Voyager; proficiency with Excel and Access; experience with vendor negotiations, licensing agreements, and electronic invoicing.</pre>
<p>Salary:  Commensurate with education and experience.</p>
